Calabasas is a city located near Los Angeles, CA. The word “calabasas” is a derivative of the Spanish word “calabaza,” which means squash, gourd or pumpkin. The city was incorporated in 1991.

Residents can access Los Angeles from Calabasas via US-101 or by means of Calabasas’s own public transportation system. It offers shuttle and trolley service and also provides access to Line 161 of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority. Calabasas is also the site of the Hindu Sanctuary. This temple complex provides representation for 10,000 local Indian emigres and was built by the Hindu Temple Society of Southern California.
