Century City, CA Real Estate

Century City is a combination residential/commercial district that was once an actual back lot used by 20th Century Fox Studios. Located in Los Angeles itself, it can be reached by traveling either Santa Monica (its northern boundary), Olympic (the central artery or "main drag"), or Pico (the southern boundary) Boulevards. The Avenue of the Stars, Century Park East and Century Park West, also provide access to Century City.

One building that is easily recognized is Fox Plaza, which is the headquarters for 20th Century Fox studios. This location was the site of "Nakatomi Plaza," where much of the action in the movie "Die Hard" occurred. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, one of Hollywood's most famous and historic studios, is located at Constellation Place. The building is frequently referred to as the MGM Tower. Other buildings and landmarks include Watt Plaza, the AIG SunAmerica Center, Century Plaza Hotel, Century Plaza Towers (also known as the "Twin Towers,") and the Century Center News building.

Century City residents live mainly in high-rise apartment buildings and condominium properties. Most of these are considered "gated" properties. They are very secure and the residents' privacy is strictly guarded. Prices for "homes" in these units usually depend on where the unit is located with lower-floor ones going for more moderate prices and increasing as one goes up. Penthouse units, of course, would be the most expensive. There are very few, if indeed any at all, single-family homes in Century City. One would have to go to surrounding neighborhoods to find a single-family dwelling.

The Los Angeles Unified School District provides two elementary schools and two middle schools. Students did attend Hamilton High School, but in Fall 2007, Century City's 9th graders were reassigned to University High School. Grades 10 through 12 were to eventually follow, thus making all high schoolers ultimately attend University High School. Saint Paul the Apostle School is a parochial school located in Century City, serving Grades K-8. Seeds University Elementary School-UCLA is a private elementary school (PK-6); Sinai Akiba Hebrew Academy offers classes for students in Grades PK-8.
