Chatsworth, CA Real Estate

home buyersThe first thing one might notice about the unincorporated San Fernando Valley district of Chatsworth is the tumbleweeds. These rolling plants, which can be considered a "necessary" part of the scenery in any western TV show or movie, are still very common in and around Chatsworth.

If the sight of a tumbleweed hurtling down the street isn't enough, you may be interested to know that some areas of Chatsworth are still zoned for horses. Therefore, don't be surprised if you pull up to one of Chatsworth's restaurants and see a horse or two tied up in the back of the establishment. Chatsworth still looks like an "old West" town and is only a short distance from Los Angeles via major roads and freeways as well as having a Metrolink station and it should not come as a shock that this area is still used to film western-themed TV shows and movies.

If all the "westernness" makes you wonder if you've somehow managed to stumble into a time warp, just travel a few miles down the road to Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. A few tummy turning, teeth-rattling rides will remind you that you are still in the 21st century. This feeling will last until you visit the William S. Hart Ranch and Museum. This 20-acre former home and ranch of silent-film cowboy star and director William S. Hart stands in tribute to his contribution to the movie industry. There, the Spanish colonial style house, a period-furnished 1910 ranch house and various western and Native American artifacts and artwork pieces may just catapult you right back into that "time warp" you thought you had left. But, that's all right. That was a simpler, quieter time.

If you fall so deeply in love with Chatsworth that you decide you just have to live there, then you will be pleased to know that you can do just that in one of the modestly-priced classic American ranch-style homes or reside in luxury in one of the beautiful English Tudor or French Country estates. In addition, there are also town home and condominium properties, some of which have "gated" or "exclusive" entry restrictions.

Your children will attend one of the three elementary schools for which they are zoned, then go on to the middle school and high school that serves Chatsworth. Or, if you prefer, they can attend one of the many private schools or academies that are located in Chatsworth.
