Downtown Los Angeles is the main shopping, business and financial district of the City of Los Angeles. You can truthfully say that this is where it all happens! Union Station is located in Downtown Los Angeles. Union Station provides access to all points in and around the greater Los Angeles area. Trolleys, buses, light rail trains (including the Metroliner) and the subway will take you anywhere you need or want to go in Los Angeles.

Downtown Los Angeles is home to El Pueblo De Los Angeles. Recognized as the "birthplace" of Los Angeles, this attraction offers tourists the opportunity to see "Old Mexico" in the heart of Downtown. New Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Angel's Flight (the world's shortest railway) are also located in Downtown Los Angeles. In addition, Pershing Square is home to Los Angeles's oldest public park and is also the location for Los Angeles's Jewelry District and Fashion District.

There are no single-family residences in downtown Los Angeles, but there are apartments and condominium properties galore! There are moderately-priced units available, but one can also choose from one of the more expensive units that are available. Apartment and condominium units may be "open," or they may be considered "gated" properties. A few buildings are even listed as "exclusive." Loft living is becoming very popular in Downtown Los Angeles. Residents are encouraged to "live where you work," as there are actually some buildings that offer loft living in the same complex as office buildings or workplaces.

Children attend one of numerous elementary, middle and high schools located in the Downtown area. In addition, there is a Home Hospital school, which serves those children who for physical reasons cannot attend regular school as well as a number of Charter schools and academies.

Private schools in the 90015 zip code area include Alpha Christian Academy for Grades K-8. There is also the Idyllwood School of Music and the Arts and Olympic Primary Center. In the 90017 zip code area, one can find two private high schools, a K-8 Catholic parochial school and the Alliance for Minority Affairs.
