Hancock Park, CA Real Estate

home buyersHancock Park is a neighborhood in Los Angeles that boasts some of the most beautiful homes in the area. Besides their beauty, these homes also have the distinction of having been once owned by members of some of the most well known families in California. These include the Gettys and Van Nuys, among others. Because of this, Hancock Park is itself considered one of the many attractions that can be found in Los Angeles.

The neighborhood is located along US-101S, a thoroughfare that can probably be referred to as Los Angeles's "main drag". It is for sure that at one time or another, you will get on this road to either enter or leave Los Angeles, but that's all right, it just carries you straight to the "happening places" and all the local attractions. Los Angeles's convenient, modern transportation system operated by the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority can get you to where you want to go just as easily as US-101S. In fact, depending on traffic, the "Metro" may be the way to go. However, the choice is yours.

Entering the Hancock Park neighborhood, you will immediately notice that the area is not like other neighborhoods. Houses are set well back from the street and most utility lines are underground. Residents are asked (read: strongly advised) not to erect fences around their property. The homes themselves have many diverse architectural styles. One may find a Cape Cod, a French Country, a "traditional" California bungalow, a Spanish-inspired, a Colonial, an English Country, a Tudor and a Mediterranean-style home all on the same street. Town homes and condominiums are also available for ownership in the Hancock Park neighborhood.

Almost all of the elementary students in Hancock Park go to Third Street Elementary School, although small portions of Hancock Park west of North Highland and north of Beverly are zoned to Melrose Elementary School. John Burroughs Middle School is located in Hancock Park itself while a small number of Hancock Park middle schoolers attend Bancroft Middle School. Los Angeles High School and Fairfax High School serve students in the upper grades.

The Marlborough School, a private girl's school and Yavneh Hebrew Academy, an Orthodox Jewish school, serving Grades Pre-school through 8th, as well as Wilshire Private School, a K-6 academy, are also located in the Hancock Park neighborhood.
