Inglewood is home to the Hollywood Park Racetrack, a famous horse-racing venue. Celebrities and tourists alike go to "the track" to see and be seen, as well as to bet on the horse races that are being run at any given time. Inglewood has three distinct neighborhoods. They are Crenshaw-Imperial, Morningside Park and North Inglewood. Single-family homes in all these neighborhoods are very moderately-priced; most are designed in the modern/contemporary architectural design. Each neighborhood also has a number of multi-family residences or properties available. Some of these are duplex houses, which are single structures that have been divided right down the center either vertically or horizontally. Each unit is considered a separate residence, although both are located literally under the same roof. Each unit will have its own separate entrance and most likely a separate address (although it may very well be something like "123A Inglewood Street, Inglewood, CA and 123B Inglewood Street, Inglewood, CA"). The units, however, will share at least one "common wall" and may even share more. This means that your kitchen wall may be your neighbor's bedroom wall. Depending on the thickness of the insulation between the wall, you may be able to hear everything that goes on in your neighbor's bedroom, while your neighbor may be privy to every word of your dinner conversation. This problem can be easily remedied by having more insulation installed in the shared wall. Other apartment complexes in Inglewood include properties with only a few units, as well as some "high-rise" (in this case, three to six floors-sometimes a few more), buildings, with multiple units on each floor. Children in Inglewood attend one of the thirteen public elementary schools (three of which serve children in Grades K-8), one of the two middle schools and one of the four high schools. Inglewood also has a Lutheran high school for students in Grades 9-12 and a small school that bills itself as a "preparatory tech academy". Students can begin attending this school in kindergarten and go through their senior (12th grade) year.
