Lancaster, incorporated in 1977, is the eighth largest city in Los Angeles County and the ninth fastest-growing city in the United States. It is the second largest city on the California side of the Mojave Desert. Lancaster is seventy miles away from Los Angeles.

Lancaster is home to the Aerospace Walk of Honor. This site honors test pilots who were associated at one time or another with Edwards Air Force Base. Lancaster also has a sports stadium. Originally called Lancaster Municipal Stadium, Clear Channel Stadium is home to a minor-league baseball team, the Lancaster JetHawks.

Lancaster also prides itself on maintaining a portion of the area surrounding it as a Prime Desert Woodland Preserve. This allows a large amount of the land in and around Lancaster to stay in as natural a condition as possible.

Single-family homes in Lancaster are affordable and a number of different architectural styles can be seen. Some homes are built in the Victorian Ranch design; others offer a "taste of Europe" with their French Country and Mediterranean features. Town homes in the city of Lancaster are primarily two-story units. These residences are also very attractive and moderately-priced.

There are four public school districts in Lancaster. Eastside Union, Lancaster and Westside Union School Districts serve the elementary school needs of Lancaster residents, while the Antelope Valley School District takes care of the high school students. Private schools are also available in Lancaster.
