One may think one has arrived at the "place where the gods dwell" (according to Greek mythology) when entering this prominent neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles. The beautiful, high-end homes, many reflective of the Mediterranean style of architecture, will certainly have one's thoughts turning to Greece and other parts of the Mediterranean area of Europe.

The homes, for the most part, do bring a substantial price. This is due partly to the location, but also to the fact that many of the owners, current and previous, valued their privacy, safety, and security to such an extent that the property is gated, with strictly-controlled access and exit points. Those who do find themselves in a position to live in Mount Olympus, however, will discover that it is definitely worth the money.

Residents are in the enviable position of not only living in one of the most desirable locations in Los Angeles, but also being only minutes away from Los Angeles's nightclubs, shopping venues, restaurants, tourist attractions, and, of course, downtown, where many people work. Mount Olympus does not, unfortunately, have any apartments, town homes or condominiums in the neighborhood itself. However, Beverly Hills is very close, and there are a number of those type of living spaces available there.

Mount Olympus does have it own neighborhood schools, however. The four elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools are within the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Unified School District, but are located in the boundaries of the neighborhood. The LAUSD zones students to the different schools in the neighborhood. This assures that children will have enough teachers and materials, and the schools will not be too crowded. In addition, Chabad Private School, a Jewish institution, is located in Mount Olympus. Children receive religious education as well as participate in regular academy studies.
