Playa del Rey, CA Real Estate

home buyers"Playa Del Rey" is Spanish for "Beach of the King" or "King's Beach". This beautiful coastal community is connected to its "sister city" Marina Del Rey by a bridge. The area is home to a population estimated at 8,600. The community is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west, Marina del Rey and Ballona Creek to the north, Playa Vista to the northeast, Westchester to the east, and El Segundo to the south.

So, what do you do while you're in Playa Del Rey? You visit the beach, of course. You surf, you swim, you boogie-board, you lay out and soak up the sun (while wearing plenty of sunscreen, naturally), you make a million trips across the bridge to make sure you're not missing out on anything that's going on in both Playa Del Rey or Marina Del Rey.

Many of the single-family homes in Playa Del Rey are very moderately priced, given their proximity to the beach. You may also be surprised to find out that there the property some of the homes sit on is bigger than what you might have expected to find in a coastal location. While it is true that many of the homes were and are built to allow less property to be taken up by the residence, single-story homes still leave plenty of room on their sites. There are also some town homes for sale, and some apartment complexes.

Playa Del Rey schools come under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Elementary school students have the choice of attending either Loyola Village Elementary School or Kenwood Elementary School. Orville Wright Middle School serves Grades 6-8; Westchester High School serves Grades 9-12. In addition, St. Bernard High School is a private high school in Playa Del Rey.
