Santa Clarita Valley, CA Real Estate

home buyersSanta Clarita Valley is home to Santa Clarita, CA, as well as a number of unincorporated areas. Santa Clarita (the city) makes up the largest portion of Santa Clarita Valley. It is the fourth largest city in Los Angeles County. The whole valley area is accessible via Interstate 5. Additionally, the Metrolink allows you to board the light rail trains that serve the Santa Clarita Valley in order to reach Los Angeles and points beyond.

The city of Santa Clarita has only been incorporated since 1987, making it a relatively new metropolis. It is, however, for all its “newness” the fourth largest city in Los Angeles, and has been named as one of the top 25 places to live in the United States (by CNN and Money Magazine). The area is popularly referred as an “edge city” or a “boomburg”. Each of these terms means roughly the same thing; that is, that the area was once considered suburban or even rural.

Santa Clarita has established many neighborhood parks and maintains a comprehensive recreation program. There is a recreation center in Canyon Country that includes an aquatic park with wading, diving, and Olympic swimming pools along with a bicycle/skate park, community swimming pools in both Newhall and Canyon Country and a community center in downtown Newhall. The city's largest park is located in Saugus and is known as Central Park. There are currently a total of seventeen parks scattered in various neighborhoods throughout the city. Many have lighted tennis and basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields.

Santa Clarita offer a variety of attractions from a PGA champion tour golf course, theme parks, historical sites, and a world-class aquatic center, to luxurious day spas, outdoor recreation areas, acres of parkland, and miles of paseos and trails. The area's most notable attractions are the Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park located just outside the city limits, and the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), located in Valencia.

Several school districts serve the Santa Clarita Valley, including Castaic Union School District, Newhall School District, Saugus Union School District, Sulphur Springs Elementary School District and William S. Hart High School District.
